Troy Rhone Garden Design works to create gardens that clients love to come home to.
With 20 + years of experience and a diverse portfolio of projects across the United States, our team approaches each client’s project with care from the beginning of the design process through implementation and beyond. We spend time learning each client’s personality and lifestyle before using our expertise and creativity to develop a garden individually-suited to how they live.
Clients call us because they desire a garden that feels special to them, but they are at a loss for how to create it.
We start each design by identifying a client’s needs and dreams as well as the opportunities and challenges unique to their site.
Our first priority is solving existing problems in the garden and thoughtfully designing to prevent future issues before we dive into the aesthetics of the garden. From there, we let ourselves dream in large, unconventional ways to create one-of-a-kind spaces that are meaningful to our clients.
Troy Rhone is renowned throughout the Southeast for his garden designs and kind disposition. Collaborating with designers across the United States and abroad, his roots spread deep and wide.
With a love for traditional design, Troy’s gardens suit elegant homes in any part of the world. Great thoughtfulness and conviction are given to deliver the very best in quality, aesthetic, functionality and purpose. Troy creates gardens that are extensions of the home’s interiors. There is a connection historically as well as architecturally to align with the personalities and lifestyles of those who reside there.
Troy began designing gardens while in horticulture at Auburn University. His interest and passion for beautiful gardens took root as a child raised in a family of artists, gardeners, and writers. He was destined to thrive along this pathway of beauty, reverence for creation, and providing others with the experience of an awakened spirit that surfaces in the context of ones own garden sanctuary.
Troy embraces each opportunity to bring his 20+ years of expertise to clients and form new business partnerships. He uses his gifts and innate talent to enrich others' lives with his calm demeanor, thoughtful approach and honesty. He sees life as a garden intended to share with others. Troy is based in Birmingham, Alabama.
O'Neal joined our team in 2020. In her role as a project manager, she meets with clients to bring their ideas into reality by guiding them through an organized design and installation process. She works with Troy and our team of skilled artisans and craftsmen to coordinate the installation and gathering of the various elements for the implementation of the project.
O'Neal delights in discovering each client's unique needs and wishes so that she is able to cultivate the potential for their signature garden. Her interest in garden design began while playing in her mother's garden as a child. She fondly remembers hearing stories of her family while playing among the heirloom azaleas, camellias, and iris.
A true people person, O'Neal enjoys building relationships with clients, vendors and other design professionals. She received degrees in Environmental Design and Landscape Architecture from Auburn University. O'Neal has recently moved back to her hometown of Birmingham to pursue her passion for garden design, after spending ten years in rural west Alabama.
As an assistant project manager, Taylor, assists the design team in making our client's vision a reality. She is proficient in hand drafting, drafting in AutoCad, and 3D modeling. Her skills play a major role when designing the perfect garden for each one of our clients.
From the age of fourteen, Taylor began training her eye to see the beauty in decor and the precise placement of objects that would give life to an area. As she grew older, so did her vision expand, allowing her to see the world as a design and not solely a place. Thus, helping her cater to the needs and wishes of her clients.
Taylor received her Bachelor of Interior Design from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Fresh out of school, she worked with several independent builders as an Interior Designer and later found a love of horticulture while working at a local garden nursery as their designer and merchandiser.
In 2016, Taylor moved to Birmingham from her home state, Louisiana, to be near her husband’s family. It was in Alabama where she discovered her love for writing. Taylor is a published author, who enjoys writing fantasy fiction novels, creating entire new worlds for adults to experience.
