“Best Little Showhouse in Texas” — Traditional Home, 2018

When Traditional Home magazine made a Dallas showhouse debut this past summer, Troy Rhone was excited to be part of the team of 27 designers to create a modern Mediterranean-style home showcase. The home benefited the Alzheimer’s Association of Dallas and Houston. It was a very personal project for builder Paul Moss of the Marina Bay Development Corp. since both of his parents succumbed to the disease. Troy Rhone was invited to contribute pool deck ideas and exterior garden design to the project.

The beautiful home build and stunning garden decor are featured in the May/June 2018 edition of Traditional Home in an article called The Best Showhouse in Texas.

Pool Deck Ideas: Making the Vast Space More Intimate

One very important step in the garden design around the pool area was to take the vastness of the space and create a more intimate vibe. To achieve this, Troy used ceiling effects and curved arbor that reaches over the chaise lounges.

“I wanted to make the area feel like an inviting room,” Troy Rhone says of his pool area design.

With umbrellas above the seating units and bright orange cushions on the patio furniture, the whole space comes together to feel like an intimate abode. The pop of color in the orange also brightens the creamy complexion of the home. The exterior lights from Bevolo Gas & Electric lights make for a beautiful evening relaxation space.
